JRS Australia: Submission to the Joint Standing Committee on Migration Inquiry into Migration in Regional Australia

Released in late September, JRS Australia’s submission to the Joint Standing Committee on Migration Inquiry into Migration in Regional Australia shows failures of the Safe Haven Enterprise visa (SHEV) scheme in terms of conflating the goal of encouraging migration into regional areas being at odds with the notion of temporary protection used as deterrence against future boat arrivals. Some information from this submission comes from interviews conducted over the last 1.5 years.
